Model-based definition (MBD) is an emerging industry technique whereby information traditionally captured on 2D drawings is now being captured in 3D CAD models. This technique allows for wider dissemination of product data through an increasingly digital corporate enterprise. The MBD certificate program (MBDCP) provides students already familiar with CAD systems with an opportunity to engage in learning activities around the key aspects of MBD in industry today: CAD model manipulation to capture product manufacturing information; an introduction to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; and an introduction to MBD dissemination using neutral data exchange formats. This certificate also allows students to bring simple parts with them from their job to apply what they have learned in the course. The Introduction to Creo 2.0 with MBD is provides students without prior CAD experience to learn the basics of how to use a CAD system from a MBD perspective.
